Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) Bottle Codes

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is an independent bottler and distributor of single malt Scotch whisky and other distilled spirits. With headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland, and international branches in over 25 countries, it is also one of the biggest whisky membership groups in the world. Unique codes are assigned to each release that correspond to the distillery where the spirit was produced. These codes are used instead of the actual name of the distillery in order to protect the brand identity of the distillery and to make the focus of drinking the spirit more about the flavor than about name recognition, a process that has been in place since the founding of the Society in 1983. This list has been compiled by me through published and online research and has not been provided by the SMWS. It should be used for reference purposes only and is subject to change. And if you come across any "updates" that need to be made, please let me know!
